What Are The Most In-Demand IT Jobs?

As we come into 2023, we see more and more jobs emerging in the IT and Technology sector. This creates exciting opportunities for employment - whether you are already in the industry or are interested in making a career change.

IT is a great industry to work in with a variety of options for different skill sets and interests. But what kind of jobs are up for grabs? As experts in IT recruitment, we have created this blog to help you know more about the most in-demand IT jobs for 2023!

Data Analysts

Nowadays, an increasing number of jobs and industries are dealing with data in their work. It is fast becoming the most valuable form of information in modern life. This, in turn, makes jobs in data analysis far more sought-after.

Since 2019, in fact, reports show that ‘data’ has gone from the third highest skill in-demand within the tech industry to the number one highest. Additionally, Tableau estimates that 70% of all jobs by 2025 will involve working with data. There are also many opportunities for remote IT jobs within data analysis fields. The demand for analysts can therefore only increase.

Cyber Security

As our world becomes more connected and tech-based than ever before, it becomes more vital to protect our information. Just as Data Analysis becomes more sought-after because of the rise in data acquisition, this also means we need tighter security to make sure that data is safe.

The UK government estimates that 39% of companies reported a cyber attack in 2022. However, they also note that “enhanced cyber security leads to higher identification of attacks, suggesting that less cyber mature organisations in this space may be underreporting”. Regardless, cyber attacks are a very real threat.

Analytics Insight forecasts that a whopping 10 million cyber security IT jobs will be up for grabs across 2023, so if cyber security is what fascinates you, now’s the time to join in!

Cloud Architects and Engineers

Cloud computing is becoming wildly popular, meaning that the people behind that software are becoming wildly in-demand. Working from home, decentralised data and cross-country remote working have vastly increased the need for cloud software and architects.

Gartner forecasts that almost $600 billion will be spent on cloud computing in 2023 - an increase of 20.7% from 2022. Furthermore, demand for Cloud Architects increased by 54% over the past year, and for Cloud Engineers it was an astonishing 97%. The skills shortage within the Cloud implementation sphere confirms it - Cloud Engineering and Architecture is a hugely in-demand sector.

UX Researcher

UX, or User Experience, is a key part of a user’s experience with technology. Researchers in this field are essentially trying to understand which parts of a user interface (UI) work, and which don’t. They try to find out what users need from technology, and implement it. If we are going to live in a world full of technology, it is critical that everyone in that world can easily access it.

UX Researchers frequently work with designers, programmers, and engineers, forming a key link between them all. Seed Scientific reports that the demand for these jobs is expected to rise almost 15%. Users are increasingly valuing the experience they have while using a product or service rather than things like cost or value, so UX will be vital in improving this experience and, therefore, client retention.

Machine Learning Engineer

The world of tech is becoming more and more automated, meaning machine learning is a growing part of the industry. It is also an exciting part, as we are still discovering the potential of this technology!

Global spending on Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technologies is predicted to increase by nearly 20% from 2022, with a figure of $432.8 billion. LinkedIn also listed it as the number two job in-demand for 2022 - and that demand will undoubtedly grow.

AI and machine learning is here to stay, and is a great sector of the IT industry to join. Even within the larger sphere of fintech jobs generally, this is a hugely developing field. There will definitely be no need to worry about job security!

If you’re looking to begin your career in IT, or switch and progress within the industry, it’s good to consider which jobs are most in-demand. Whether your focus is on remote IT jobs, highly qualified positions, or sectors with great advancements, you should definitely be considering the demand for these jobs. Once you’ve decided which sector you prefer, reach out to us at Fintech for more information and advice - and we can match your skills and experience with an IT job!
